Day 5: Hassan - Belur & Halebid - Mysore Visit two extraordinary 12th century temple complexes today: Belur, once the capital of the Hoysala Empire, is famous for its exquisite temples with intricate sculptures and friezes that took 103 years to build! The walls of the Hoysaleswara Temple in Halebid are covered with endless sculptures of gods and goddesses, animals, birds and dancing girls, no two of which are the same. This magnificent temple - guarded by a Nandi bull - was never completed, despite 86 years of labor. Continue to Mysore, a former capital city famous for its silk, sandal-wood and incense trade, besides its traditions of South Indian music and culture.
Day 6: Mysore to Nagarhole National Park After visiting the former royal palace of Mysore, continue south to the Nagarhole National Park, home to tigers, elephants, sloth bears, leopards and over 250 species of exotic birds. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive.

Day 8: Nagarhole to Madikeri Continue your overland trip through Karnataka state to Madikeri, the main town in Coorg, an area with misty hills covered by acres of tea and coffee plantations, orange groves and flowering trees.
Day 9: Madikeri Enjoy the pleasant setting of this highland town - visit a 19th century fort and a temple and enjoy some spectacular views.
Day 10: Madikeri – Mangalore – Bombay (Mumbai) Travel through some beautiful countryside to coastal town of Mangalore, where you board a flight to Bombay. On your way in to the city from the airport, visit the famous Haji Ali mosque which juts out into the sea, Crawford Market and the busy Victoria Terminus Railway Station.
