Go back in time to an era where Emperors and Maharajas
ruled India: Visit the imperial capital of Delhi, experience the Mogul
splendors of Agra's fabled monuments and tour through the former royal
states of Rajasthan. Stay at some former Maharaja's palaces or
noblemen's mansions, explore colorful bazaars and experience the rich
history and culture of this fabulous land. Yet, India is not a living
museum or a giant theme park - it is a sensual feast of colors, sounds
and sights that is bound to delight the palate of the most jaded
traveller! |

Trip Itinerary |
|
Shortly after
noon today, catch your Singapore Airlines flight to Asia. Arrive
in Singapore two days later after crossing the International
Dateline.
|
|
The day is free for you to enjoy
Singapore, a modern city and yet distinctly Oriental. A special
visitors’ pass is included for transportation and entrance fees to
important sights around the city. Leave Singapore this afternoon
and fly to Delhi, India’s capital.
|
Day 4: Delhi |
This morning, enjoy a brief tour of Old Delhi, riding in a
rickshaw just like the locals, through the narrow streets and
teeming bazaars. Visit the grand mosque before continuing to
New Delhi, for other sites such as Humayun’s Tomb and some free
time for shopping etc.
|
|
Leave
Delhi this morning and travel to Agra, once a Mogul capital and home of the world
famous Taj Mahal! Twenty thousand master craftsmen labored for
twenty years to build this awesome memorial for one man to honor
the memory of his wife. Later visit the majestic Agra Fort.
|
Day 6: Agra to Jaipur |
Morning drive to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted red
sandstone city which was abandoned in the 16th century. Continue
onwards to Jaipur, visiting Keoladeo National Park on the way, once
a Maharajah’s private duck shooting grounds and now a haven for
migratory birds from Central Asia. Arrive in Jaipur, Rajasthan’s
famous ‘pink city’, built in 1728 from local sandstone. Just before
entering Jaipur, stop at the Amber Palace – a hilltop fortress,
accessed in appropriately royal style on elephant back!
|
Day 7: Jaipur
|
Jaipur’s elegant buildings and palaces reflect its past wealth and
grandeur. Visit the elaborate ‘Palace of Winds’, which is not a
palace but merely a façade, behind which the ladies of the royal
household could watch processions and street festivals without being
seen themselves! Spend the afternoon walking through Jaipur’s
bazaars – famous for their silver jewelry and handicrafts. |
Day 8: Jaipur to Kuchaman |
Drive through the countryside, passing villages and women wearing
brightly colored garments before arriving at Pushkar, famous for its
annual camel fair. Built atop a 1000 feet high rock cliff, the
imposing Kuchaman Fort houses splendid palaces, temples and palatial
rooms decorated with exquisite frescoes and murals. |
Day 9: Kuchaman to Jodhpur |
Drive to Jodhpur and visit its impressive fort made of red sand
stone. Proceed to the village of Luni, home of Fort Chanwa, an
exceptional example of elegance and symmetry in Indian architecture
of the last century with its ornately carved lattice work. |
Day 10: Jodhpur |
Enjoy a morning walking tour of the old city of Jodhpur with its
markets and bazaars. The afternoon is free. |
Day 11: Jodhpur to Deogarh |
Visit the exquisite Jain Temples at Ranakpur, before driving on to
the village of Deogarh, the site of another charming 17th century
castle, now converted into a hotel. Most guest rooms are decorated
in the local style with lots of period furniture, antique and objets
d’art. Relax with a drink as you soak in the magical atmosphere of
the castle and transport yourself back to a bygone era of Maharajahs
and kingdoms |
Day 12: Deogarh |
Enjoy a free day in this charming medieval town. |
Day 15: Deogarh to Udaipur |
Drive through the Rajasthani countryside to the town of Udaipur,
surrounded by hills and mountains and set on the edge of three
lakes. Famous for its whitewashed houses with brightly painted
exterior walls, Udaipur has a rich historical and cultural heritage
with an abundance of elaborate palaces and ornate temples. |
Day 15: Udaipur |
Enjoy a free day to explore Udaipur on your own or catch up on some
shopping perhaps.
|
Day 16: Udaipur to Delhi &
Singapore |
Late morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Delhi,
connecting to an overnight flight to Singapore. |
Day 16: Singapore to
USA |
Land in Singapore early this morning for your connecting flight to
the US, arriving the same day. |
